Amaya Champagnie was born in Miami, Florida, with roots that reflect a rich multicultural heritage—her mother from Puerto Rico and her father from Jamaica. She earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida in 2021 before relocating to Washington, D.C., where she completed her J.D. at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law in 2025. Amaya brings two years of immigration clinic experience, an extended family law clinic, and prior internships with an international human rights law firm and the criminal docket to her work at Tucker, Nong & Associates, where she has worked for the past year and a half.
Motivated by her own family’s immigrant story, Amaya is deeply committed to advocating for immigrant rights and meeting clients’ needs with determination and clarity. Her experience spans immigration filings, family law matters, and human-rights-focused legal work. Beyond her casework, she has contributed meaningfully to the legal community—collaborating with leadership of the National Bar Association to develop the digital pamphlet for the annual 40 Under 40 Conference, supporting outreach initiatives with the Black Law Student Association to assist individuals experiencing homelessness, and serving as a member of the Hispanic Bar Association.
Outside of her legal work, Amaya enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. She is also passionate about nature and animals, finding balance through time outdoors and caring for her French bulldog and rabbit. Her grounded, compassionate personality complements her strong advocacy and her dedication to serving the immigrant community with integrity and resolve.
