When many people hear the term personal injury they tend to think only of car accidents. While car accidents can be the cause of a person sustaining personal injuries it is not the only situations where these injuries can occur. Personal injury can also occur on a person’s job. Every day workers are being hurt or losing their lives just to receive a pay check. According to a report recently released by the U.S. Department of Labor, approximately 11 Americans die every while at their work place. Eleven people will not come home to their families or show up to work ever again. Why and how do these workplace injuries occur?

Who Is At Fault For These On The Job Injuries?

Some of these workplace accidents can occur due to fault of the employee. Not paying attention while at work can cause many dangers to occur thus putting lives in danger. Horsing around at work can be a second cause of workplace injuries or deaths. Some accidents at work are not the fault of the employee. Some of the environments where people work are dangerous and everyday these workers risk their lives and health to make a dollar. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide a reasonably safe working environment for its employees. Federal agencies such as The Occupational Safety and Health Administration have been created in order to make sure that businesses and companies are adhering to certain laws that pertain to the working environments to their workers. With the help of safety standards, training, and education employers and workers are able to maintain a safer work environment. Unfortunately, some of the safety standards, training, and education do not assist in preventing workplace accidents. Employees are still getting hurt or killed every day while at work.

What To Do After A Workplace Accident?

In the event that you or your loved one have endured a workplace accident you should seek legal counsel. Your employer may cause you to feel that there is no need for a lawyer to get involved but there is. Some companies may not fairly compensate employees that have been hurt or injured on the job. The role of their insurance adjuster is to protect the needs of business not the employees. When an employee or an employee’s loved one’s settles for the amount presented by the insurance company they could be setting themselves up for financial problems in the future.
